Celebrating deep roots and an ever-evolving identity with an urban touch.
Spatial Concept was tasked to revamp Bank of East Asia’s canteen and podium into an urban-chic communal space, inspired by the company’s heritage and story.
Located inside the canteen, the structural parametric tree is modelled after the Banyan trees that were planted over a century ago on the streets of Hong Kong. Very few of them remain, making them a living legacy. It is a symbol of BEA’s deep-rooted connection to Hong Kong since 1918 and with this we celebrate its ever-evolving identity.
Highlights:
- The dining hall of the canteen area is a multi-functional space during non-dining hours with diversified seating arrangement suited to different purposes.
- The outdoor podium is connected to the dining hall and can be used as an extension for extra capacity.
- Equipped with a barbecue grill and catering table, the podium also allows night-time events to be hosted there.
- A convenient ‘Tray Bay’ tray return rack is incorporated snugly into the trunk of the tree structure.
